New Series: Make it Count

In this four week series, we’ll study the life of Gideon out of Judges chapters 6-8. It’s the story of a young man called to do extraordinary things for God in his generation. As we study Gideon, we’ll be asking what it looks like for each one of us to rise up and live boldly for Jesus in our generation. If you’re thinking God could never work through someone like you, this series will be a powerful reminder that God is big enough to use every one of us for His glory!

Take Action!
Take action this week by responding to the call of Philippians 4 to live generously!
As mentioned in John’s message, Central Union Mission is in need of 5000 pairs each of new men’s socks (sizes 6-12) and/or new men’s briefs (sizes M, L, XL). If each Frontliner brings in these items, the entire amount of needed socks and underwear will be met!
So go out in an attitude of worship this week to get these items, and bring them to the service on Sunday (Monday for Arlington) so that we can respond quickly to the needs of our neighbors.

Frontline Christmas Service – December 19th

Join us this Sunday as Frontline celebrates Christmas. We all know what a busy time of year this is and how much pressure can come with the season. Well, not this Sunday. We’re celebrating all the wonder and awe that is Christmas. So, invite your family and friends to start the week of Christmas off right by celebrating the perfection of Jesus’ birth.
A Message From Todd Phillips
Frontline,
I have an important announcement to make that will have a significant impact on the Frontline community. I wanted you to hear the news directly from me as soon as possible. We announced this news at all our Frontline Campuses this past weekend, but we wanted to make sure that if anyone was not there they still were able to hear the news.
I’m entering into a new and exciting phase of ministry. I have been in discussions with Lon Solomon, our senior pastor about the future of the church, Lon’s plans, and the potential of my involvement in God’s work here in the future. I have just completed the first year of a three-year leadership development plan that was established by Lon, Denny Harris, our Executive Pastor, and approved by the church elders. The purpose of this three year plan was to equip me to effectively lead a church with the size and complexity of McLean Bible Church as well as preparing me for the possibility of becoming the senior pastor of McLean Bible Church at some point in the future.
The last year has been nothing less than profoundly eye-opening and has served to both validate my leadership gifts and my passion for pastoral ministry. At the same time that I have been working through God’s plan for my life, Lon has become more convinced than ever before that he has another ten or fifteen years of leadership and service that he can offer God as the Senior Pastor of McLean Bible Church. I too believe that Lon has many years of strong leadership ahead of him.
Lon, to his credit, came to me in September of this year to explain his future plans and asked that we both consider how those plans would affect my service at MBC. He stated that his desire was that I would continue moving forward with our leadership development plan but was certain that, after the three year plan, I would likely be “waiting in the wings” for seven to ten more years. Since I have a deep desire to preach weekly and lead a church, this created a decision point that I was forced to confront head on.
After a tremendous amount of time in prayer, as well as discussions with my wife Julie, and a few trusted advisors, I’ve determined that God is leading me into a new chapter of ministry outside of McLean Bible Church. Lon and the elders have graciously given me time over the coming months to pursue ministry opportunities around the country. I know that God is making all the preparations necessary for my coming years of service.
Additionally, understanding that Frontline is the young adult ministry of McLean Bible Church, I firmly believe that it is time to transfer leadership of the ministry to a new young leader who can continue to strengthen our connection to the DC-area young adult community. Thankfully, we didn’t have to look far to find God’s man for this role. John McGowan already has a strong foundation in preaching and leading multi-site communities from his years of service leading the Gathering and I and the entire staff are extremely optimistic about God’s plans for Frontline through John’s leadership as the new Frontline Teaching Pastor over the coming years.
I will be preaching a final message on the weekend of January 9/10, and I look forward to seeing you there. Thank you for the privilege of serving at Frontline for the past six years.
Blessings-
Todd Phillips
